Live in Christ
Pastor Jared Oldenburg
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:6,7).
I don’t know about you, but I have an endless list of things I know are good for me—get up early, eat well, get plenty of sleep, live in the moment, never own a cat, etc. The hard part for me is not the knowing part; it’s the doing part. If you’re human, I think you can relate. Things come up, the kids get sick, deadlines loom, and life continues. It doesn’t take too long for the knowing and the doing to look pretty different.
I think this is a perfect time to pause and take stock of what we know and what we’re trying to do in life. Here is what we know—We have Jesus and the forgiveness that comes in his name. And here is what we do—“Continue to live your lives in him.” When we have Jesus, we have a mission. We have a chance to wake up (maybe even early) and find a purpose. I’m sure the kids will still get sick and deadlines will still loom, but today is a brand-new day to live our lives in him—in his love, in his forgiveness, in his acceptance, and in his strength.
