who touched me?
Pastor Matt Ewart
One day Jesus was walking through a crowd so big that it had the potential to crush him. While plenty of people were bumping up against him, there was one woman who intentionally reached out to touch his cloak.
She had been suffering from a condition that left her subject to bleeding for 12 long years. No doctor could help her. Her only hope was that getting close to Jesus would allow her to be healed. She believed he could help.
And he did.
The moment she touched the edge of his cloak, her bleeding stopped. Jesus also stopped. He wanted to know who had touched him.
Jesus didn’t just want to heal her. He wanted to tell her something. But what could he possibly tell her that would add to the blessing of her healing? Here’s what he said: “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Luke 8:48).
If you fail to see the significance in what Jesus said, just look at the first word. Jesus wanted her to know that even though nobody noticed her, she was known by God himself. She was his daughter. She was loved by him.
You will have private things in your life that you want to keep that way. Some struggles will go unnoticed by all the people around you, even as you reach out to God for help. What Jesus wants you to know is that you are known and you are loved, even when you go unnoticed.
