Speak up while there’s time
Pastor Mark Jeske
I can’t get too angry with people who aren’t motivated by the urgency of Scripture’s call to repentance, warnings of hell, and the soon coming of the day of judgment. Every day we are bombarded with advertisements urging us, “Call now!” “Time is running out!” “Hurry!” We have all figured out long ago that all that urgency is contrived. We don’t have to hurry at all.
But God means it. Life is short and uncertain, and eternity is long. People who are connected to Christ in faith will rise again to glory in heaven. People who have no time for God during their earthly lives will find that God has no time for them when they are judged. “Apart from me, evildoers, into the fire prepared for the devil and his angels,” they will hear.
You and I are part of God’s rescue team. Your words to the lost ones really do matter: “My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins” (James 5:19,20). Don’t hold back. Your personal eloquence is not the difference maker. When you speak God’s words, the power and persuasiveness come from God.
Do you know even one person who hasn’t heard the gospel? Speak up while there’s time.
